To my little love on International Women's Day

Dear love,
This may be a day that many men laugh and joke, "Why isn't there an international men's day?" However, this day has just filled my thoughts of you. My thoughts are directed to a picture of you riding a bike and laughing. This day reminds me of how strong you are and how as a girl, you might be told otherwise.
As your "mama," I want to let you know that you are strong, powerful and courageous. As a woman, I want to tell you that you are capable of anything you put your mind to and as both, I want to say that you are capable, strong and courageous because God made you just that way.
Although we may live in different worlds, I know that the sad truth of inequality exists in both places. Women are looked at as inferior and men as the heroes. Women often make less in the same professions as men and they are often expected to do things that men are "too manly" to do. We are called fragile and weak, but love, we are so much more.
As a girl, you are capable of being intelligent (which you so are). You are capable of playing whatever sport you want and rocking in it. You are capable of getting the highest marks in class and playing in the dirt. You are literally capable of anything.
As a woman, you can go to college and have a career. Your options are open to anything God has placed on your heart. If you are led to be a Nascar driver, pastor, engineer, doctor or even a chef, go for it because mama's got your back. If you want to be the next Frida Kahlo, go for it. As a woman, you can.
Many people throughout your life might call you weak, but our God calls you strong.
We can look in the bible at countless examples of how God has used women to rock the world. He uses us too and is going to use you in ways that we could never imagine. I can't wait until the day I get to watch you living your life and passion and changing the world while doing it.
You must not ever let the circumstances that you have been given allow you to view yourself as the victim. While they may have not been the best and caused a lot of pain, YOU are not a victim. YOU are a conqueror through Jesus. I already know this about you and I want to spend the rest of my life reminding you of that very truth.
I hope that one day you can fall in love with a little girl like yourself and have the drive that you have given me. Every exam and test beings you to my mind. First, I do it to glorify God and secondly, to be there for you.
As women, we may be told that we can't. But, the world tells lies. We can. You can. You are a strong woman. So yes, hit like a girl when you're hitting challenges. Run like a girl when you're running toward Jesus and your goals and talk like a girl when you're changing nations.
I love you more than my words could ever express, my love.

This is Alejandra riding her bike today. My little love in San Marcos, Guatemala.

Love this.
